Description
These
radio
towers
situated
to the
southeast
of the
capital
city
of
Naha
were
used
by the
Japanese
as
observation
posts
during
the
fighting
for
Naha
and
Shuri
. The
framework
construction
made
them
difficult
artillery
targets
but
air
bursting
shells
were
used
to
drive
the
observers
from their
posts
.
